A sant and his associate have been booked for allegedly gangraping a woman at an ashram in Vrindavan area of Mathura over two years ago. While the FIR was lodged on Thursday evening, the alleged incident had taken place on the Republic Day in 2014. According to the FIR lodged under sections 376 D (gangrape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC, accused Krishnanand and Krishna Kumar allegedly raped the woman, a follower of Mahamandaleshwar Rameshwar Das in Vrindavan, on January 26, 2014.

The victim in her complaint had alleged that she was raped when she had visited Dauji Ashram to attend a Republic Day function. The accused had reportedly threatened her to not to approach the police. The woman had alleged that she had contacted the local police after the incident but no FIR was lodged. She later approached a local court, which ordered the police to register the complaint.
When contacted, Mathura SP (City) Ashok Kumar said: “As far as we know, the victim never approached the police. We have sent the victim for a medical examination and are searching for the accused.”
