SENIOR UP minister Azam Khan Tuesday reiterated his allegation that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had met underworld don Dawood Ibrahim in Lahore at the residence of Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif and demanded that BJP should release photographs and video footage to clarify who else was present there.
Azam made the allegations in the state Assembly amidst a pandemonium by the BJP legislators who were protesting against the “rigging of panchayat polls” and “deteriorating law and order” situation in the state, two days after an 8-year-old boy was killed in Shamli during celebratory firing by Samajwadi Party workers.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi went to Pakistan breaking all the rules and met an international criminal. They should release the photo and video as to who else was present in the room. BJP should first clarify its relationship with Dawood,” Azam said.
Earlier, even before Speaker Mata Prasad Pandey could take his seat, BJP members trooped into the well holding banners and raising slogans. They were later joined by BSP, RLD and Congress members.
“They are the real rioters, they are rubbing shoulders with beef traders,” Azam said as BJP’s Satish Mahana and Sangeet Singh Som raised slogans.
“They call themselves cow lovers but are with those people who run meat plants and are beef traders. BJP’s real face has been exposed,” Azam said.
BSP staged a walkout protesting that the House was not in order.
Satish Mahana proposed to to discuss the situation, but Azam retorted saying: “You don’t want to discuss law and order issue. You are standing with beef master (signalling at Sangeet Som).”
BJP’s Suresh Khanna requested Speaker to accept his notice under Rule 311 for discussion.
The Speaker tried to pacify the BJP members stating that trainee judicial officers have come to witness the proceedings of the House and they will get a bad impression but BJP members were not convinced. Later, he rejected the BJP notice, but accepted to take up their adjournment notices.
After 10 minutes, Speaker adjourned the house till 12:30 pm.
On Saturday, Azam had said, “Prime Minister visited Pakistan by breaking international laws. He also met Dawood there. Let him (Modi) deny. I will give evidence.”
He had claimed that besides Sharif, his mother, his wife and daughters, Dawood Ibrahim was also present when Modi met them at the Pakistan Prime Minister’s residence on December 25.
