The Uttar Pradesh government on Friday sent its recommendation to the central government for a CBI inquiry into the death of 27-year-old Sara, wife of Samajwadi Party leader Amanmani Tripathi. While Amanmani has said that Sara died in a road accident, her family members have alleged that she was murdered.
On July 18, based on a complaint by Sara’s mother Seema Singh, an FIR was registered against Amanmani, son of jailed former minister Amarmani Tripathi and his unnamed family members on charges of murder, conspiracy and harassment of the deceased at Sirsaganj police station of Firozabad district.
Home secretary Mani Prasad Mishra said Friday that the proposal for CBI inquiry has been approved by higher officials and is being sent today to the Ministry of Personnel and Public Grievances, which handles the matters related to the CBI.
Seema Singh had met Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday, requesting him to recommend a CBI inquiry into Sara’s death. Sara had married Amanmani in July 2013, without the knowledge of their family members. Seema Singh has said Amarmani was against the marriage and declined to accept it.
She has also demanded a narco analysis test of Amarmani and Amanmani in connection with the death of her daughter.
Amanmani was arrested from National Highway in Firozabad after the accident in which his wife had reportedly died, while he remained unhurt.
