“We are very disturbed with the statues being damaged. We have given a two-day deadline to the police to nab the culprits or we will launch an agitation. We will not tolerate such practices at our places of worship and those responsible should get strict punishment,” Bhatnagar of the Bajrang Dal said.

Police forces from nearby police stations, too, rushed to the spot to quell the trouble.

Sunita Dahiya, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Kotwali, pacified the agitated demonstrators, and said the culprits will not be spared.

“An FIR has been lodged at Kotwali police station against unidentified persons. We have checked available CCTV footage and those who did it have been captured in the video. Police teams are conducting raids at possible hideouts of suspects. We are sure of arresting them soon,” Dahiya told The Indian Express over the phone.
