The UP chief secretary today reviewed the Lucknow Metro rail project and set a deadline of 15 days for a high-level committee to finalise the alignment and financial structure for implementation of the project.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Housing Department,Lucknow Development Authority as well as Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) Ltd.
Soon after the meeting,Chief Secretary Jawed Usmani told mediapersons,Discussion took place on three significant issues - alignment,financial structure and legal aspects of the project. A high-level committee has been formed,which has been asked to give its report on all three issues within the next 15 days,
The committee has also been asked to look into legal aspects of whether to adopt the existing DMRC operation and maintenance act or to form a separate act for Lucknow Metro. Sources in the government said this is the first time a 15-day deadline has been set for any task under the project.
Sanjiv Saran,who took over as Commissioner Lucknow today and attended the Metro meeting,said that a high-level committee under the chairmanship of Rajiv Aggarwal,Secretary,Housing,had been formed. The committee will include the DM of Lucknow,SP of Lucknow city,Superintendent of Police Traffic as well as Lucknow Municipal Commissioner.
