BJP national president Rajnath Singh on Thursday called upon all opposition parties to unite for making India a Congress-free nation, saying it was the dream of great socialists like Jai Prakash Narayan and Ram Manohar Lohia.
Development of the country could not be expected until the nation is Congress-free, he said in Lucknow in a reminder of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modis slogan of Congress-free Bharat Nirman at the recent Goa executive committee meet.
The BJP president said the Congress-led UPA had failed on all fronts, including economy, external as well as internal security, and diplomacy.
The rupee slumped to an all time-low of 60.76 against US dollar on Wednesday. It is surprising that exports from the country are not increasing while the value of rupee is decreasing. There is an apprehension that people will withdraw their illegal money deposited in foreign banks following the slump in value of rupee, Singh said while adding that the Centre must keep watch on those withdrawing money from foreign banks.
Singh said that the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of country had increased to 8.9 per cent in the BJP rule while the rate has now slipped to 5 per cent. The GDP rate is decreasing because neither domestic nor foreign investments were taking place in the country. Foreign investors have withdrawn their capital investment from the country on large scale in the past two weeks. Domestic investors are also now preferring investment in foreign countries, Singh said.
He said whatever growth was taking place it was without creating new job opportunities. Nearly 6.7 crore job opportunities were generated in the NDA regime. In UPAs rule from 2004 to 2009,only 27 lakh jobs were created, Singh said.
The morale of terrorists was so high,he said, that they attacked army jawans in Srinagar on the eve of Prime Minister Manmohan Singhs visit. Singh said that nearly 20 states were affected by Naxalism. There should be a comprehensive plan to tackle these problems. BJP assures of complete support to every effective steps that Centre will take on issues of external and internal security.
He said communal harmony was more in the BJP-ruled states. Singh said more than 3,900 communal riots and disturbances occurred in the country before the 2002 Gujarat riots.
Singh demanded the UP government to provide interest-free loan and pay bonus along with the Minimum Support Price (MSP) to farmers against procurement of wheat and paddy.
