Police said the elder brother had caught his sister and the youth in a compromising position and filed molestation FIR against him
Police said the elder brother had caught his sister and the youth in a compromising position and filed molestation FIR against him.
A day after a youth lodged an FIR against his sister’s classmate, accusing him of having unnatural sex with her, the 18-year-old girl, a state-level basketball player, committed suicide by hanging herself at her home in Kanpur’s Chakeri police station area Friday. No suicide note was, however, found from the spot.
Station House Officer, Chakeri police station, Rajeev Trivedi said, “The girl’s elder brother had got an FIR lodged on Thursday against her classmate for allegedly molesting and of having unnatural sex with her when she was alone in the house. He had reportedly found his sister and the youth in a “compromising position” and had lodged the FIR.
The case was registered under Sections 354 (criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 377 (unnatural offences), 452 (house-trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint) and 511 (Punishment for attempting to commit offences) of the IPC.
The police were yet to arrest the accused, who is the son of a sub-inspector posted in Lakhimpur Kheri district.
The SHO said that the preliminary investigation found that the girl (18) and the accused were in a relationship and that there is “several evidence” to support this claim.
According to Trivedi, the investigation so far has found that the girl’s elder brother had caught the youth with his sister when she was alone in the house Thursday. He beat up the youth and later filed the case against him. The police had sent the girl to hospital for getting a medical examination conducted but she refused and returned home.
On Friday afternoon, family members found the girl missing from her room. They began search and later found the store room of the house bolted from inside. They broke open the door only to find her hanging.
