The Class X results of the Board of High School and Intermediate Education (UP Board),declared on Saturday,registered an overall pass percentage of 86.63 per cent,which is highest in the last 10 years. The improvement,compared to last year,was around three per cent.
The pass percentage of girls was 91.25 per cent,while the boys had a pass percentage of 82.87 per cent.
Chairman of UP Board Vasudev Yadav,while declaring the results,informed that among the districts,Maharajganj had the best pass percentage with 94.79 per cent; while Pilibhit recorded the lowest pass percentage of 70.95 per cent.
There were at least 43 schools where the pass percentage was less than 20 per cent. Lucknow was at the 37th position in 75 districts,with 87.30 per cent pass percentage. Around 12 districts had pass percentage of over 90 per cent.
A total of 38.04 lakh students had registered for the examinations,out of which 33.31 lakh participated in the examination. The total number of students who cleared the exam was 28.86 lakh.
Jail inmates were also allowed to appear in the examinations from the centres created in their respective jails,said Yadav. A total of 213 inmates had registered for the examination,while 127 had appeared for it. Out of them,114 passed.
In order to control the menace of cheating,the UP Board had adopted the policy of giving numbered answer sheets to the students in at least 10 districts – Allahabad,Kaushambi,Hathras,Aligarh,Etah,Azamgarh,Mau,Ballia,Ghazipur and Deoria. The answer sheets were also transferred from the examination centre to the evaluation centre in sealed covers to prevent any tampering.
