No plan for new welfare scheme for riots victims,says Modi

In a written reply to Congress MLA Farukh Sheikh,Chief Minister Narendra Modi today said the state government has no plan to introduce any new welfare scheme for the victims of the 2002 riots.

In a written reply to Congress MLA Farukh Sheikh,Chief Minister Narendra Modi today said the state government has no plan to introduce any new welfare scheme for the victims of the 2002 riots.

The MLA asked,“Does the state government intend to come out with any scheme for those whose business and house property were damaged in post-Godhra riots of 2002?”

The CM in a response to the MLA said,“A scheme of interest and capital benefit was announced by government resolution on 16-03-2002 and 16-05-2002 of the state industry department for those who lost industry,shops and self employment. Under this scheme,in Ahmedabad 1,861 units/affected persons were given Rs 3,17,84,626 as interest assistance and Rs 2,55,73,905 as capital assistance. Considering above facts,issue of starting any new scheme does not arise.”
