The NCR Planning Cell of the Uttar Pradesh approved the Greater Noida Master Plan 2021 in a meeting in Ghaziabad on Friday, clearing a major roadblock for construction work in the area.
The Allahabad High Court,in its October 21 judgement, had ordered that the Master Plan must be approved by the NCR Planning Board before any construction could begin in the area.
After clearance by the Planning Cell, officials will now send the Master Plan to the Planning Board, based in New Delhi.
Senior officials of the three authorities Noida,Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway and the district magistrates of Gautam Budh Nagar,Bulandshahr,Meerut and Ghaziabad are members of the NCR Planning Cell.
What was required today was for the cell to approve the plan and include it in the Sub Regional Plan. That has been done. It will now be sent to the NCR Planning Board, said an official of the Greater Noida Authority.
The Planning Board comprises 21 members of the governments of four states Delhi,Rajasthan,Haryana and Uttar Pradesh apart from the ministries of the Central government.
The news brought relief to buyers and builders,as they are one step closer to beginning work again. On November 1,Greater Noida CEO Rama Raman had ordered that all construction activity in the area should be stopped till the approval process was complete.
Rajesh Yadav, who has bought a flat in Greater Noida, said,This is great news. Hopefully, the final clearance will come soon and the trouble will be behind us. We have also heard that the Greater Noida Authority has reached an agreement with the farmers so they dont appeal against the decision in the Supreme Court. These are all positive signs.
Officials of the Noida Extension Flat Buyers Welfare Association said,The NCR Planning Board approval should only be a formality, and we will push for it to be done at the earliest. But this is great news and we are pleased that the administration is working fairly quickly to solve the problem.
