Murder accused shot dead on court campus

Armed men shot dead a murder accused and seriously injured his relative inside Aligarhs district court campus in Civil Lines area today.

Hoshiyar Singh was being escorted by armed policemen to the court for hearing in the murder case when the shooting took place. He died on the spot. Neeraj Singh,who had come to meet him,received bullet injuries in the back.

Aligarh range DIG Prakash D had to face the anger of lawyers at the spot. The lawyers staged a demonstration outside the court,protesting poor security arrangements at the court.

The DIG said that the attack appeared to be a sequel to the murder of one Mukesh,who was allegedly shot dead at Bajauta village in Tappal area on November 28 last year. A case was registered against Hoshiyar and six others and they all were lodged in jail,he said. He said that Hoshiyar was brought to the court to attend a hearing in the case. Neeraj had come to meet him.

Aligarh SP (City) Dayanand Mishra said seven persons from Mukeshs family were named in the shooting.
