The Ghazipur district jail authorities have informed the state administration that bringing Mukhtar Ansari, the MLA from Mau with criminal antecedents,to Ghazipur jail may not be conducive for peace and order there. The state administration had sought a report from the jail officials from the point of view of security following an application from Ansari, who is currently lodged in Agra jail, seeking his transfer to Ghazipur jail.
Confirming that the jail administration has sent such a report, the Ghazipur District Jail Superintendent,M L Anand, said: The state administration had sought a report some time ago from security point of view in the event Ansari was brought here. A report has been sent citing several problems that could crop up if such a development took place.
The report has been sent to senior officials of the prison department for their perusal,he added.
Deputy Inspector General (Prisons),Allahabad,V K Jain, did not comment on the matter, saying the report was not specifically sought from his office. He,however, added he had visited Ghazipur district jail last week,as it came within his purview.
Ansari was lodged in Ghazipur jail when the then BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai was murdered allegedly at his behest in 2005. The CBI,which is investigating the case, had the tapes of Ansaris alleged conversation with the accused involved in the murder on the fateful day.
