The Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday said the first-ever MotoGP event held in Greater Noida saw a footfall of more than one lakh people from India and around the world while registering business of over Rs 930 crore.
The event generated “economic activities” in the region, a government spokesperson claimed, adding that the organisers have shown interest in holding the event in Uttar Pradesh next year as well.
“MotoGP Bharat resulted in the gathering of more than one lakh people from India and around the world at the Greater Noida-based Buddh International Circuit for the much-anticipated event hosted by India for the first time.
The event also did record business of Euro 106 million (i.e. around Rs 933 crore),” claimed the spokesperson.
“Intense economic activities took place during the three-day event, leading to business of Rs 9.3 billion [Rs 930 crore],” the spokesperson added.
“The largest number of visitors were present on the day of the final race of MotoGP that (Italian Grand Prix motorcycle racer) Marco Bezzecchi won,” claimed the government spokesperson.
Elaborating on the claim of the event generating economic activity worth Rs 933 crore, officials said this also includes an investment of Rs 50 crore in track development and basic infrastructure, apart from boast to hotel industry, restaurants, transportation, hospitality etc.
