Minor burnt alive for resisting ‘rape attempt’

A 16-year-old girl was burnt alive allegedly by her neighbour after she resisted his attempt to rape her at Kairana Town in Shamli district.

Muzaffarnagar: A 16-year-old girl was burnt alive allegedly by her neighbour after she resisted his attempt to rape her at Kairana Town in Shamli district. After setting the girl afire,the 22-year-old accused,Surender Kashyap,also attempted suicide by consuming poison. Surender,on Monday evening,went to the girl’s house when she was alone and allegedly tried to rape her,Deputy Superintendent of Police CP Singh said. When the girl resisted,he doused her with kerosene and set her ablaze,the DSP said. She was rushed to a local hospital with 80 per cent burns,but died during treatment,Singh said. The youth who had consumed poison after the incident has also been admitted in hospital.

Married woman ‘gangraped’

Etah: A married woman was allegedly gangraped by six men in her house in Hirapur village in Etah district. The victim lodged a police complaint alleging that six men from her village entered her house on Sunday and raped her,police said. No arrest has been made so far.

Man gets life term for raping minor

Budaun: A local court has sentenced a man to life imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 1 lakh for raping a minor girl seven years ago. Additional District Judge S N Tripathi on Monday sentenced Irshad to life imprisonment for raping a 15-year-old girl in Sahsawan area. Father of the victim had lodged an FIR on Jan 27,2006 when the girl became pregnant.
