Mega Trends triumphs in Eram Cup

Mega Trends Club defeated Jubilee Cricket Academy by three wickets in their league match of the 1st Eram CUP 2009 at Pt RB Tiwari Stadium,Lucknow on Tuesday.

Mega Trends Club defeated Jubilee Cricket Academy by three wickets in their league match of the 1st Eram CUP 2009 at Pt RB Tiwari Stadium,Lucknow on Tuesday.

Asked to bat first,Jubilee Cricket Academy scored 153 runs losing all its wickets in 32.1 overs. Suraj Srivastav (40) and Ajay Singh (21) batted well for the team. Pawan Yadav bowled with good vision and took four wickets conceding 32 runs while Govind Tawar and Saurab Tiwari claimed two wickets each.

In reply,Mega Trends romped home after attaining the set mark in 25 overs with three wickets to spare. Prashant Singh with 57 was the main run-getter. Amit Chopra (34) also batted well. Abid and Gulrez took three wickets each.

Jubilee Cricket Academy: 153 all out in 32.1overs ( Suraj Srivastav 40,Ajay Singh 21,Gulrez Haider 15,Waseem Hussain 11; Pawan Yadav 4 for 32,Govind Tawar 2 for 21,Saurab Tiwari 2 for 40);

Mega Trends Club: 154 for seven in 25 overs ( Prashant Singh 57,Amit Chopra 34,Govind Tawar 14; Abid Haider 3 for 33,Gulrez Haider 3 for 45).

Hockey trials
A total of 23 girls reported for the Sports Authority of India (SAI) hockey trials organised at the newly established ‘Extension Centre’ of SAI at Karamat Husain Muslim Girls PG College,Lucknow. The trials were held for girls between 14 to 18 years of age under the day boarding scheme of SAI.

Olympian Syed Ali,who was one of the selectors for the two-day trials said that after the completion of both the physical and skill test,the selection committee has shortlisted the names of about 15 girls for further consideration by SAI as per its norms.

“Another such trial will be organised in July as well to give a chance to those girls who could not appear in these trials due to examinations or some other reason,” he further said.
