Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) founder Kanshi Ram’s sister Swarn Kaur Sunday accused Mayawati of hijacking the movement started by her brother after backstabbing him. She also accused the BSP supremo of murdering Kanshi Ram.
“Kanshi Ram was a leader for you but he was a brother for me. Mayawati backstabbed him and destroyed his movement. She murdered him,” Kaur said in Agra.
She said it was good that the electors taught Mayawati a lesson in the elections. “Now, she must be removed from the BSP to save the party,” Kaur said while addressing a Rashtriya Bahujan Bhaichara Sammelan organised by former BSP leaders opposed to Mayawati at Bhim Vatika in a Dalit-majority locality of Agra.
Former BSP MP Pramod Kureel, who is convenor of the campaign ‘Mayawati Hatao BSP Bachao’, launched to unseat the former CM from the party, said they selected Agra to kick off their offensive as the city has one of the largest Dalit populations and BSP has as six MLAs from the district. The programme was held a week after the 81st birth anniversary of Kanshi Ram.
Kureel said Kaur will attend similar programmes to be organised in other parts of Uttar Pradesh, including Saharanpur and Lucknow, in coming days.
“This is the first time that Kanshi Ram’s sister has attacked Mayawati in UP. Those who came to listen to her were moved by her personal account of how Mayawati treated her family,” said Kureel.
Similar campaigns, which come after the BSP’s drubbing in last year’s Lok Sabha polls, have also been launched by former minister Daddu Prasad and estranged BSP MP Jugul Kishore against Mayawati.
Prasad and Kishore have accused Mayawati of abandoning Kanshi Ram’s policy of creating a Bahujan Samaj of Dalits, OBCs and minorities by replacing it with sarva samaj (for all castes). These leaders have accused Mayawati of playing in the hands of upper castes and those having money power.
Earlier this month, on BSP founder’s birth anniversary, a programme was organised in Lucknow by Prasad, along with Kanshi Ram’s brother Dalbara Singh, where they launched a similar campaign against Mayawati under the banner of Samajik Parivartan Manch. Kishore, a Rajya Sabha MP, has also launched Manyavar Kanshi Ram Vichar Manch for the purpose.
