A 37-year-old man, who sustained serious injuries after he was assaulted over his alleged involvement in cow slaughter in Moradabad, died during treatment early Tuesday morning. The victim, Shahedeen Qureshi, was reportedly caught by a mob on the premises of the Mandi Samiti in Uttar Pradesh on Monday early morning.
Based on a complaint filed by the deceased’s brother, Mohammad Alam, the police have registered an FIR against unidentified persons on charges of murder. No arrests have been made so far in this case.

Additional Superintendent of Police, Moradabad, Kumar Ran Vijay Singh, stated that an investigation is ongoing. Police have collected video evidence of the incident and are working to identify those involved, an officer said.
According to the police, preliminary investigations revealed that early on Monday morning, a group of people had gathered in an open area at the Mandi Samiti who were allegedly involved in cow slaughter.
Upon allegedly learning about the alleged slaughter, a mob arrived at the spot. While most of the people “managed to escape”, one person was caught by the crowd.

A police team rushed to the spot, rescued the man from the mob, and sent him to the hospital. Police said that animal remains were found at the scene.
Based on his statements, police claimed, Qureshi learned about the alleged cow slaughter.
A case was filed against Qureshi and his associates under the Cow Slaughter Act. ASP Singh said Shahedeen’s alleged associate Adnan has been arrested in that case.
Qureshi succumbed to his injuries early Tuesday morning while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
The police said that the deceased’s brother alleged that some persons had taken Qureshi from his house and were responsible for his death.
