In an application in a local court, the CBI on Thursday sought permission to conduct the polygraph test on former minister Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiyya in the case of murder of Kunda DSP Ziaul Haque, who was shot dead in Balipur village in Pratapgrah district on March 2.
Special judicial magistrate Mirza Zeenat fixed June 11 for hearing on the matter. The court will be issuing notice to Raja Bhaiyya,as his consent is required for conducting the test, said CBI counsel J Ansari.
In her FIR,the slain SPs wife Parveen Azad had accused Raja Bhaiyya of conspiring in the murder of her husband. She had also accused Kunda zila panchayat chairman Gulshan Yadav,Raja Bhaiyyas two drivers Rohit Singh and Guddu Singh and his local representative Hariom Srivastava of beating her husband and killing him.
After the FIR was lodged,Raja Bhaiyya had to resign as Food and Civil Supplies Minister in the Akhilesh Yadav government on March 4.
The CBI later interrogated Raja Bhaiyya for two consecutive days,on May 15 and 16,at its camp office in Kunda. It also questioned the other accused. But it has not arrested any of the five accused in the SPs murder case. However,Guddu Singh has been arrested in the murder case of Balipur Pradhan Nanhey Yadav.
Instead,CBI has arrested slain pradhans son Yogendra alias Babloo, his brothers Phoolchand and Pawan, their associate Manjit Yadav and seven others in the murder case of the DSP.
The pradhans killing had sparked a chain of events which led to the shooting of his brother Suresh and the DSP later the same night. The DSP was beaten up and shot dead by a mob when he went to Balipur after the pradhans murder. The CBI,which is investigating the Kunda murders, has filed a chargesheet against five persons in the case of murder of Nanhey Yadav. It has alleged that the pradhan was killed because of a tussle between him and Guddu Singh over village politics and a property dispute.
It is still investigating the death of Suresh and the DSP.
