THE POLICE on Sunday recovered a two-and-a-half-year old boy, who was kidnapped from his house at Nagphani area in Moradabad on Saturday. Three persons were also arrested in connection with the kidnapping. The abductors had demanded a ransom of Rs 10 lakh from the victim’s father, Faizul Rehman — a businessman — for his release.
Police recovered the boy from a rented house in the Civil Line police station area in Rampur. Those arrested have been identified as Tehseem, Waseem Khan and Faisal. While Tehseem and Waseem had earlier worked in Faizul Rehman’s firm, Faisal was the domestic help at his house in Nagphani.
Nagphani Station Officer B P Rana said: “On Saturday evening, Faisal took the boy to the market… When he did not return, the victim’s family started looking for him… Late evening, Faizul Rehman received received a call where the caller demanded Rs 10 lakh for the boy’s release. Rehman informed police…”
The SHO added that during investigation, the police suspected that Tehseem, who was seen near the victim’s house on Saturday, was involved in the incident. “During questioning, Tehseem confessed to the crime. He said that Waseem and Faisal were also involved in the kidnapping. They had kept boy at a rented house in Rampur, which the accused had hired around a month ago,” Rana said.
“A police team rushed to Rampur and recovered the boy. Waseem and Faisal were arrested from the house. During questioning, Waseem and Faisal said that after kidnapping the boy, while they stayed with him, Tehseem returned to Moradabad. Waseem later made the ransom call to Rehman,” he added.
