The UP Government has accepted financial assistance from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for the Lucknow-Agra Expressway and Lucknow Metro rail project.
The issue came up during a meeting of JICA officials with UP Chief Secretary Jawed Usmani on Monday. The JICA team was here for a review meeting of drinking water supply project in Agra, which is being funded by the agency. While Usmani ordered completion of work by July 2017,officials of JICA expressed their willingness to assist other development projects in UP.
The two projects were then placed before the team, which was told that any proposal for financial assistance in Lucknow-Agra Expressway project and Lucknow Metro would be considered by the government.
While the government hasnt finalised the alignment of the metro project,it has floated qualification tender for the 270-km long Lucknow-Agra Expressway.
