Jail inmates escape,seven cops suspended

Seven policemen,including reserve inspector (RI) of Chitrakoot Police Lines,were suspended while five of them were sent to jail on Thursday for their negligence in the escape of 13 prisoners of Banda district jail on Wednesday. The prisoners who escaped from police custody include brother-in-law of slain dacoit Ambika Patel alias Thokia and four members of his gang,the police said. Uttar Pradesh inspector general (IG) law and order B P Singh said that RI Shri Ram,sub-inspector (SI) Bahadur Khan,head constable Jai Prakash,constables Dallu Khan,Madan Gopal and Bardani Prasad and constable driver Mushtaq Khan have been suspended for dereliction of duty. The RI has been suspended for not deploying adequate manpower to escort the dreaded criminals and sending only four policemen to take 20 prisoners from one district to another,the IG added.
