Uttar Pradesh will soon have an industrial hub exclusively for Japanese firms. Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) had earlier approached the state government for setting up land for which sites at Kosi Kalan in Mathura,Ferozabad and Auraiyya district have been short-listed. Investment of nearly Rs 10,000 crore is expected.
UPSIDC will sign an MoU with JETRO and only CM Akhilesh Yadavs consent is awaited.
We have received the proposal for setting up an exclusive industrial hub for Japanese firms. Meetings have taken place with a Japanese delegation and things are at an advanced stage, Manoj Kumar Singh,MD,Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Corporation (UPSIDC) said.
The proposed hub will serve as the nerve centre for supplying products across the country. The land will be provided to the Japanese firms on payment and there will not be free allotment.
Such a model is working in Rajasthan where the Japanese companies have been given a cluster. Similar cluster will be developed in UP,too, he stated.
The firms have shown interest in setting up units related to automobiles, electronics and computers.
The state has received a similar proposal from Chinese firms. It is being currently examined, but things are still at primary stage, Singh added.
