Six months after he left as the Director of IIM-Lucknow on completion of his term,Prof Devi Singh will again be at the helm of affairs of the prestigious post for a second term on Monday.
Singhs first term ended on August 24,2008,but his successor could not be decided as a turf war was on between the IIM-L Board of Governors, who wanted an extension for Singh, and the Human Resource Development Ministry which preferred Prof DK Bandhopadhyay,Director of the Indian Institute of Forest Management,Bhopal.
All these months,P C Purwar, the seniormost professor, was taking care of the institute. The matter has finally been sorted out.
Asked about his plans for the institute,Singh said: I have been given a full second term as IIM-L director and have planned further development of the institute. But I will reveal this only after I assume charge on Monday.
In his previous five-year term, the IIM-L had set up its Nodia campus, started an agriculture management center and other projects and the institutes earnings from development programmes had risen from Rs 3 crore to Rs 10 crore.
