MORE THAN a year after the term of Devi Singh, the last permanent director of Indian Institute of Management-Lucknow (IIM-L), ended in September 2014, Ajit Prasad — professor of Strategy at SP Jain Institute of Management in Mumbai — is likely to be announced as the new director of IIM-L on Monday.
Sources said while IIM-L Chairman Jamshed J Irani has been informed about Ajit Prasad’s name being cleared for the post, an official announcement would be made on Monday.
Prasad is likely to join office next month.
An expert on strategic management and corporate social responsibility, Prasad has also taught at reputed institutes in India and abroad, including IIM-Raipur and Delhi University.
He has also authored a dictionary on strategic management. Apart from bring on the academic governing board of Milano Politechnique at Milan in Italy, Prasad was also appointed as the independent director of Board of Power Finance Corporation in 2010.
IIM-Lucknow has been without a permanent director for the last one year.
The term of the last permanent director, Devi Singh, had ended on September 15, 2014. After that, seniormost professor Rajiv Kumar Srivastava was given officiating charges of the institute. However, in July this year, Srivastava had suddenly stepped down, citing personal reasons.
Following this, Bharat Bhaskar — senior professor of Information Technology at IIM-L — was made the interim director in July 2015. Bhaskar, reportedly a functionary of the RSS, continues to hold the post in the absence of a permanent director.
