A local court of Lucknow today granted interim bail to IAS officer Shashi Bhushan Lal Susheel,who was arrested and sent to jail on charges of molesting and attempting to rape a woman on a moving train on Monday.
Session Judge KK Sharma granted him interim bail till October 9 and ordered him to submit two sureties of Rs 20,000 each and one personal bond of Rs 20,000.
On Monday,Shashi Bhushan Lal Susheel was arrested and sent to 14-days judicial custody after a woman working with a multinational company in Delhi alleged that the officer had molested and also attempted to rape her inside the Lucknow Mail.
The victim was travelling with her mother. Shashi Bhushan,who was posted as Special Secretary,Technical Education and was put under suspension after the incident,boarded the train at Ghaziabad. Both victim and accused were coming to Lucknow.
Bhushans lawyer Vinod Shahi said after the court rejected their bail application on Monday,they filed a fresh bail application in the court of session judge today.
The court granted interim bail to Bhushan and fixed October 10 for final arguments on bail.
Advocate Shahi said: We told the court that the case is fabricated. According to the FIR,the original offence was outraging modesty of a woman,which is a bailable offence. The attempt to rape charge was added two hours after the FIR was lodged. We also told the court that the railway police did not record the statement of any passenger who were sitting in the compartment.
