A 24-year-old woman, working as a domestic help in the district, was allegedly raped and murdered by her employers when she demanded her cumulative salary of past five years, amounting to Rs 1.80 lakh, the police said on Sunday.
A complaint has been registered in this regard at Civil Lines police station following a local court order, circle officer Aaley Hassan said.
The victim’s 65-year-old mother had to move the court after the police initially refused to file a complaint. She said in her complaint that her daughter had been working at the household in the Hydel Department’s colony here for the past 10 years. “She had been depositing her salary with her employers for the past five years (as savings) and which had now reached Rs 1.80 lakh,” the CO quoted the complaint.
The victim had, on July 3, asked her employers — Mahi, her brother Fasahat, and one Mohd Usman — to pay off her dues.
When the employers did not take heed, she pressed them on.
On July 12, the accused allegedly poisoned her meal, resulting in her death, the circle officer said.
All three accused are currently absconding while the police have launched a manhunt to nab them.
