Amid the ongoing heat wave conditions prevailing in the entire Gangetic plain,forecast of a dust storm in west UP in the next 36 hours may make the condition worse.
At 46.8° C,Banda continued to remain the hottest place in the state. Allahabad recorded a maximum of 45.2° C,and neighbouring Varanasi was at 42° C. Temperatures soared markedly above normal in Meerut division.
Jhansi,Agra,Allahabad,Kanpur all recorded above normal temperatures. Bareilly and Moradabad were the few places where the mercury was at normal level.
The woes multiplied in the state by unscheduled power cuts,and protests were reported against long electricity outages from various places.
