The Allahabad High Court on Monday reserved its judgment on the petition related to updating of advocates roll in order to weed out advocates with doubtful antecedents.
A single judge bench of Justice Sudhir Agrawal reserved its judgement after hearing the counsels of the state government, the High Court and other parties concerned. While hearing a petition of one Shiv Narain, the court had taken note of the issue of advocates, whose antecedents were not clear, and directed that fresh advocates roll be prepared in order to weed out such advocates.
Earlier,on November 2,2012,the court had taken note of the fact that the advocates had gone on strike following a couple of criminal incidents against the lawyers,as a result of which no legal work could be carried out. The court passed the direction after no lawyer on behalf Shiv Narain appeared on account of strike.
The court said that, while security of advocates was of utmost importance, some people under the garb of the advocates uniform get to roam the premises of the High Court creating disturbances.
