State Health Minister Ahmad Hasan inaugurated a newly renovated health center in Chinhat area of Lucknow which was established by Mahatma Gandhi in the year 1928-29. The health minister also promised that the centre would soon be transformed into a 100-bed hospital.
The health centre was in poor condition for over ten years. The renovation work, which cost around Rs 22 lakh, was started by the Health Department about six months back. The facility is now functional as a four-bed health centre with a separate pharmacy and ANM centre, catering to the nearby population. A medical officer has been posted at the centre too. Chinhat already has a community health centre to meet the medical necessities of the area.
While inaugurating the centre, the health minister also announced that the government will soon be starting an ambulance service dedicated for pregnant women in the state. He said that around 3,000 ambulances will be purchased and made functional for the purpose in the next three months.
