The foundation ceremony for the railway overbridge at Shyam Nagar railway crossing has been postponed.
Union Minister of State for Railways Narain J Rathwa, who was supposed to lay the foundation of the Rs 18.20-crore project on Wednesday, could not attend the programme due to other assignments.
Union Minister of State for Home Shriprakash Jaiswal said: Though Rathwa had earlier confirmed his availability for the programme,he was caught up with some important work in his constituency. Therefore, the function was postponed at the last minute. He added the next date for the ceremony will be announced with Rathwas approval.
The issue had created a controversy after a foundation stone, giving the credit of the project to Chief Minister Mayawati, was installed near the Shyam Nagar railway crossing on February 9.
Jaiswal said: The issue is of least concern to the Congress. Postponing Wednesdays function has no connection with the foundation stone of the CM. The ceremony will be held at the earliest.
