Four minors, aged between 9 to 11 years, have been booked for alleged gangrape of an eight-year-old girl at an orchard in Unnao district’s Ajgain area on Tuesday. The Unnao SP, however, said he has ordered that the case be closed as the allegations appear to be false.
While the boys were brought to the police station on Tuesday, where their statements were recorded, the victim’s statement was recorded before the magistrate on Wednesday.
The accused include two brothers (9 and 11 years old). While three of them are students of classes III, IV and V, the fourth had dropped out of school last year. The boys and the victim are neighbours. “I have asked the police to close the case, as allegations appear to be false. The medical examination too has not confirmed rape on the girl,” Unnao SP M P Singh said.
Sub-inspector Manoj Kumar Mishra, however, said: “The investigation is on. We will procure the victim’s statement and decide our next course of action.”
He added that the victim’s father has alleged in his complaint that the girl had gone to a nearby orchard where the four boys were present. They caught hold of the girl and raped her, he has alleged. Following this, the girl returned home and informed her mother about the incident.
