Two groups came face to face in Rae Bareli today during the visit of a fact-finding team sent by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav to ascertain facts about two recent murders in the district.
The fact-finding team comprised Minister of State for Zoos Shiv Pratap Yadav,Minister of State for Food and Civil Supplies Rampal Rajvanshi,MLA from Pratapgarh Nagendra Yadav Munna, national president of SP student wing Chhatra Sabhas Sunil Yadav and Rajpal Kashyap.
The SP leaders had to intervene to prevent a clash between the two groups, one supporting the family of slain Lalta Prasad Yadav and the other headed by SPs MLA from Sareni Devendra Pratap Singh. The situation turned tense when Rae Bareli Bar Association president O P Yadav and former MLA Ram Naresh Yadav blamed the MLA for Lalta Prasads death.
On July 20,Lalta Prasad was allegedly crushed by a dumper when he did not allow it to pass through his field in Khajoorgaon in Lalganj.
In the other incident,a youth Dharmendra Yadav was shot dead allegedly by the Special Operations Group (SOG) while chasing a chain snatcher in Pure Kesari Lodhipur Utrawa in Dalmau on August 31.
The team was shocked to see the penuric condition of Lalta Prasads family. They live in a kuchha house. It was heart-rending to see his two small children and wife, said Sunil Yadav.
Later, the team went to Dharmendras village. Dharmendra was murdered by the SOG,but the police cooked up the theory of a chain snatcher. A case should be registered against the SOG unit, said Sunil Yadav after returning from Rai Bareli. Rajpal Kashyap said clean chit cannot be given to senior senior officials, too.
The team announced a compensation of Rs 3 lakh each for the families of both victims, besides constructing a pucca house from the Lohia Awas scheme for the family of Lalta Prasad.
The two incidents in Rae Bareli had created an uproar and resentment against the SP government. Both the Congress and the BJP have slammed the government saying it showed the lawlessness under the SP regime.
