Ex-MP booked for ‘illegal land sale’

Following an order of the Chief Judicial Magistrate,a case has been registered by Pratapgarh police against former Member of Parliament Abhay Pratap Singh and four others on allegations that they had illegally sold land belonging to the complainant.

Following an order of the Chief Judicial Magistrate,a case has been registered by Pratapgarh police against former Member of Parliament Abhay Pratap Singh and four others on allegations that they had illegally sold land belonging to the complainant.

Circle Officer (City) Gyanendra Nath Prasad said the FIR was registered directly on the orders of the court. “The facts will be clear as investigation progresses,” he said.

The FIR was registered on Wednesday under sections pertaining to cheating,forgery and using forged documents at Kotwali police station.

According to the police,complainant Amrendra Narayan Chaddha,a resident of Civil Lines area in Pratapgarh,had alleged that his ancestral property,which fell in Sadar tehsil of Pratapgarh district,was sold using forged deeds. Apart from Singh,the complainant had named Ashish Ojha,one Lajwanti,Yashvendra Singh and Anil Srivastava,alleging that they were involved in the forged sale of his land.

Initially,Chaddha had approached the police in 2010. However,when no action was taken,he approached the district court,where the CJM passed the order directing registration of FIR.
