The naked body of a 16-year-old girl,bearing multiple injury marks,was found in a well in a village of Civil Lines area in Etawah district on Thursday. The girl’s kurta was tied around her neck while her other clothes were found lying 50 metres away from the well.

The girl’s father has lodged a complaint of rape and murder.

Acting station officer of Civil Lines police station Sub-Inspector (S-I) Prem Chandra Kureel said the police were informed at 7.30 am about a girl’s body being found at Pitambarpur village. There were gashes on her cheeks,forehead and chest that were apparently caused by a knife. The girl’s private parts also had injuries,said Kureel.

He said the girl’s other garments were lying in a field near the well. The spot is about 150 metres from the victim’s house.


The girl’s father told the police that the family,including the girl,had attended a marriage ceremony in the village on Wednesday night and had returned home late.

The girl,along with her younger brother,went upstairs and was last seen sleeping at the terrace at 1 am.

Kureel said the girl was found missing from the terrace when her mother came to wake her up around 6 am. While searching for the girl,the family members and the locals saw blood stains in a field and soon found the girl’s clothes there. Following the blood stains,the villagers reached the well and found the girl’s body,the S-I added.

He said they have picked up some suspects who were present at the marriage ceremony.

10-yr-old raped by uncle in Allahabad

A 10-year-old girl was raped allegedly by her 35-year-old uncle in Jhunsi area of the district early Wednesday. The police have arrested the accused and sent him to jail. A police constable helped the victim by donating a unit of blood,as the girl had lost blood due to bleeding and her condition had turned precarious by the time she was taken to hospital.

According to the police,the victim,daughter of a farmer,and her eight-year-old sister had gone to sleep after having food Tuesday night. They were sleeping on the roof of the house,while her parents were downstairs. The other members of the family had gone to attend a wedding in the locality. Around 1 am,accused Munna Yadav,younger brother of the victim’s father,returned home and went upstairs to sleep. “He picked up the girl,gagged her mouth and took her into a corner of the roof where he allegedly committed the crime,” said Superintendent of Police (Trans-Ganga) Shafiq Ahmed. The accused also inflicted bite marks and other bruises over the victim’s body,he added.

The accused then escaped from the spot leaving the victim on the roof. Somehow,she managed to come downstairs and told her parents about her ordeal. The police were immediately informed.

The girl was rushed to Dufferin Hospital in the city.

“Constable Mahendra Pratap Singh had reached the village of the victim following the call. He accompanied the victim to the hospital,where the doctors said the girl urgently needed blood. The constable donated a unit of blood. The girl was then given a unit of the blood and her condition has stabilised now,” said Station Officer (Jhunsi),Vinod Yadav.

The doctors had to administer stitches to control the bleeding,he added. A police team,subsequently,reached the place of occurrence and arrested Munna.
