Four policemen,who were a part of the escort team for Uttar Pradesh minister Azam Khan,have been suspended for failing to lead his car to its destination in Allahabad,the police said Wednesday.
The policemen have been suspended following a preliminary enquiry while a magisterial probe has been ordered in connection with the goof-up that took place on Sunday.
As per the police,Khan had reached Allahabad to attend an iftaar party at the residence of a professor at Sam Higginbottom Institute of Agriculture Technology and Sciences in Naini. However,with his car not being able to find its way to the destination in the absence of the escort gypsy,Khan left for Lucknow without attending the event.
According to a police spokesperson,the four policemen - Head Constable Devi Prasad Singh,constables Narendra Singh and Ravindra Singh and gypsy driver Nizamuddin - were suspended late on Monday following the preliminary inquiry by the Superintendent of Police (Crime),Arun Kumar Pandey. The inquiry was ordered by Senior Superintendent of Police Umesh Srivastava.
