Infighting in the Congress over Akbarpur seat came to a head once again on Tuesday when party nominee Raja Ram Pal dropped Kanpur Gramin unit chief Ganga Singh Bhadoria from his election management committee list.

Bhadoria had been bitterly opposed to Pal’s candidature. He has now forwarded his resignation to state Congress chief Rita Bahuguna Joshi, who refused to accept it and has asked him to help the party candidates for Akbarpur and Kanpur Lok Sabha seat.

“I had not resigned from Congress, but had decided to step down from the post,” Bhadoria said, adding he will campaign for Shriprakash Jaiswal,Congress candidate from Kanpur. “Being a dedicated party member,I will ensure Jaiswal receives the maximum possible votes from areas assigned to me,” he said. Pal,however, maintained things were fine. “The issue has been sorted out by seniors, and there are no differences among the party members,” he said. “The active participation of Congressmen in my election campaign is a clear indication that I enjoy their backing,” Pal added.
