Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav Monday urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for taking steps to secure the release of Ghazipur resident Dinesh Vishwakarma who is languishing in Pakistan jail despite completing his sentence.
Akhilesh,who wrote a letter to PM,also provided a financial relief of Rs 1.10 lakh to Dineshs family. Another Rs 25,000 has been provided by Ghazipur DM.
Dinesh,hailing from Arazi village (Zakhania tehsil) of Ghazipur,had been working in a private firm in Rajasthans Alwar district since 2008. He went missing in 2011. Later,his family members filed a query under RTI Act with the External Affairs Ministry and were told that Dinesh was arrested on March 9,2012 by Pakistani authorities and after being convicted under Foreigners Act was sentenced to one year rigorous imprisonment. The court in Pakistan had also imposed a fine of Rs 500 or 15 days imprisonment if he failed to pay the fine. He is currently lodged in Malir district Jail at Karachi.
Since,his sentence period ended nearly seven months ago,his family members,which include his wife Rukmani and three children,wrote to Indian authorities seeking their intervention to secure the release of Dinesh.
