A Chinese national was arrested for travelling in India allegedly with an expired visa and a fake identity card.

A Chinese national was arrested for travelling in India allegedly with an expired visa and a fake identity card.

Police said Chinese national Lu Guangji was caught by immigration officials at Sonuali check post while trying to cross over to Nepal from Sonauli border in Maharajganj district on Friday.

The immigration officials handed him over to the police who booked him for forgery.

Lu has been booked under various sections of the IPC,including 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating) and Foreigners’ Act at Sonauli police station. He was produced before the magistrate and sent to jail on Saturday,said Sonauli station house officer Charnath Singh.

An immigration official said the accused had been travelling in India even though his visa had expired around March. He also had an identity card of Tibetan organisation but it was found to be fake,the official said.
