THE CBI has sought court’s permission to conduct a lie detector, brain-mapping and narco analysis tests on SP leader Amanmani Tripathi, who is lodged at Dasna jail in Ghaziabad for the alleged murder of his wife Sara.
On July 9, last year, Amanmani had claimed that Sara (27) had died in a road accident on National Highway-2 in Firozabad while they were on their way to New Delhi on a holiday. However, Amanmani had escaped unhurt in the incident. Soon after, he was arrested in a case of a kidnapping lodged against him in Lucknow in August, 2014. He later got bail in the case.
The central agency, which started investigating Sara’s death on the recommendation of the UP government, had arrested Amanmani on November 25 after questioning him in New Delhi. On December 8, it had produced him before the court, which had sent him to judicial custody. “The CBI had moved an application in the Ghaziabad court yesterday seeking permission to put Amanmani Tripathi on lie detector, brain mapping and narco analysis tests to get more evidence in the Sara murder case,” said a CBI official.
When contacted, Amanmani’s lawyer Sudhir Tyagi said, “The court will hear arguments on December 13 on the application moved by CBI… Amanmani has not given his consent to the CBI for the tests.” Sara’s mother Seema Singh, who had got an FIR lodged against Amanmani and his family members, said: “I had been demanding that Amanmani be made to undergo tests because there is a big conspiracy behind my daughter’s murder. I had made this demand before CBI officials when they recorded my statement.. The tests could reveal the involvement of other persons in the case too.”
“I would request the CBI to get these tests done outside Uttar Pradesh so that the reports is not fabricated. The UP government is helping Amanmani,” she alleged. Both Amanmani’s parents, Amarmani (former UP minister) and Madhumani, are currently in jail in poetess Madhumita Shukla murder case. In October, SP had announced Amanmani as its candidate for the 2017 polls from Nautanwa seat in Maharajganj.
