Capital to witness Gomti clean-up drive tomorrow

The city Tuesday will witness a ‘symbolic’ cleaning of Gomti river. The awareness drive,organised by Lok Adhikar Manch (LAM),will see National Sample Survey volunteers,NCC cadets,social activists,teachers and students’ participation.

“The campaign will begin with a 1.5 km human chain from Hanuman Setu to Daliganj Bridge,followed by a symbolic cleaning of Gomti,” said LAM convener Anil Singh. “Gomti is polluted. The aim of the drive is to create awareness among residents and state government,which wants to undertake a beautification programme of the area around the river. The first step should be to clean the river,” he said.

LU spokesperson Prof N K Pandey said the V-C has written to all deans and principals to participate in the drive.
