The Samajwadi Party MLA from Bhadohi,Vijay Mishra, who had lodged an FIR in Allahabad saying his rivals had fired at him, found himself in a bind today when the forensic report revealed that the bullets were actually fired form the gun of one of his guards.

On April 11,Mishra’s gunner Sanjay Maurya and two others were injured in the shooting incident that took place in Phoolpur area, where the SP legislator was addressing a gathering.

Additional director general (Law and Order) Brij Lal today said that five empty .9 mm shells recovered from the spot were sent along with Sanjay Maurya’s service carbine to the Forensic Science Lab (FSL) in Lucknow.

The examination confirmed the bullets were fired from the same carbine.

Brij Lal said MLA’s another gunner,Janmajay Kushwaha, had lodged an FIR on April 11,alleging that unidentified assailants had opened fire that injured Maurya and two others.

The MLA too had lodged an FIR the next day alleging four of his rivals of Sant Ravidas Nagar district were involved in the incident.

The Allahabad Range IG,Surya Kumar Shukla, said a police team led by Phoolpur circle officer has been probing the matter and a report would be sent to the court.
