The BSP hit out at the Congress on Tuesday for opposing the detention of BJP’s Varun Gandhi under the National Security Act (NSA).

Party general secretary Satish Mishra said the Congress too has now joined the Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav in toeing the BJP line in criticising Gandhi’s detention under the NSA.

“Earlier, the Congress had supported the UP government’s move, but on Monday,Kapil Sibal opposed the NSA,” he said.

The BSP leader said the Mayawati government would never allow anyone,be it from “the Gandhi family or any raja or maharaja” to violate the law of the land.
