BSP MLA booked for assaulting,firing at youth

The FIR was lodged at Heempur police station under various Sections of IPC,including attempt to murder,but no one was arrested.

The Bijnore police has registered an FIR against BSP MLA Mohammad Iqbal and five others for reportedly firing at a youth,injuring him in the shoulder,after his spade accidentally touched the MLA’s vehicle.

The FIR was lodged at Heempur police station under various Sections of IPC,including attempt to murder,but no one was arrested.

Mohammad Iqbal had won the Assembly election from Chandpur constituency in Bijnore,defeating Samajwadi Party candidate Sherbaz Khan.

Heempur Station Officer Triveni Solanki said Amzad of Naseerpur Sheikh village complained on Sunday that when his younger brother Amir was returning home from the fields,his spade accidentally touched the passing vehicle of the MLA. The MLA and his men caught hold of Amir and started beating him up. The victim managed to break free and rushed home. Later,the MLA and others reached Amir’s residence,dragged him out,and again beat him up. The complaint said the MLA also opened fire,hitting Amir in the shoulder.

In the meantime,Amir’s cousin Junaid arrived at the spot hearing the commotion. The MLA and his men beat him up too. The SO said the nature of injuries of Amir and Junaid will be clear from the report of their medical examination.

MLA Mohammad Iqbal could not be contacted for comment.
