State had no role in gold hunt,says Akhilesh

The state government was not involved in excavation for gold in Dondiya Kheda village at Unnao,said Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday.

“We were not involved in the process of permission for excavation and we also did not stop it. We have no role in this exercise. In fact,our Unnao DM Vijay Kiran Anand went to initiate the excavation process only after the Archaeological Survey of India arrived at the scene,” Akhilesh said.

Akhilesh did not comment on the prophecy of seer Shobhan Sarkar and his claim about presence of gold in the remains of the fort of Raja Rao Ram Bux Singh. “Some revered saints and great people offer important suggestions. I will be happy if our state gets so much gold,” he said without naming the saint.

Five feared drowned after boat capsizes in Bahraich

A two-year-old child drowned and four others feared drowned after their boat capsized in Saryu river in Nanpara area of Bahraich late Monday night. The boat carrying as many as 15 persons who were returning after attending a local fair. Nanpara station house officer Manoj Singh said the body of Irfan (2) was recovered Tuesday while the bodies of four others including a minor girl are still missing. While 10 persons managed to swim,five went missing. Teams of Provincial Armed Constabulary and Sashastra Seema Bal are trying to trace the other missing persons.

B-schools remember Manjunath Shanmugam

B-schools across the country Tuesday remembered IIM-Lucknow alumnus Manjunath Shanmugam,who was murdered November 19,2005 at Lakhimpur Khiri. An IOCL sales manager,Manjunath fought oil adulteration and refused to take bribes and ignored threats.

The Manjunath Shanmugam Trust (MST) fought the case relentlessly to give main accused death sentence and life imprisonment for the rest. An IIM-L statement read youth across the country pledged “I commit to lead a life of integrity.”

A candle light march was also organised at various B-Schools across India like IIML,IIMB,IIMK,IIM Shillong,IIM Kashipur,IIFT Delhi,SIBM Bangalore,IMT Nagpur,BIMS Trichy,IIM Ranchi and IIML Noida. ens
