Briefly State: 2 U’khand cops hurt in firing at Muzaffarnagar

The Uttarakhand Police which conducted a raid in Muzaffarnagar in connection with a truck theft case was attacked by locals on Friday early morning.

LUCKNOW: The Uttarakhand Police which conducted a raid in Muzaffarnagar in connection with a truck theft case was attacked by locals on Friday early morning. Two policemen,including sub-inspector Jaspal Singh and constable Praveen,were injured. The driver of the truck,Sanjay,who was accompanying the police team,was also injured in the firing. Doctors of Nehru hospital discharged both policemen after medical aid. Truck owner Sanjay is still in the hospital though doctors stated his condition was stable. An FIR has been lodged at the Civil Police Station in this connection.

SP,Muzaffar Nagar,Birendra Bahadur Singh said Uttarakhand police did not inform them about any operation in advance. The policemen were in plain clothes and had come in a private car.

“The injured policemen suffered pellet injuries”,said the SP. He ruled out that miscreants had attacked the police.

Constable hit by police van,dies

LUCKNOW: A 58-year-old police constable died when a police van ran over him in Mainpuri’s Kotwali area on Friday morning. The incident took place near the Mainpur District Jail gate. Pramod Kumar Mishra was hit by a police van which was carrying jail inmates to the court. SP,Mainpuri,Nitin Tiwari said Mishra was part of the police team deployed to carry jail inmates to the court. According to the police,Mishra was hit accidentally by the police van which was reversing. He was rushed to the hospital where he died during treatment.

Pramod Tiwari’s
wife is dead

Lucknow: Alka Tiwari,wife of Congress Legislature Party leader Pramod Tiwari,died on Friday after a prolonged illness. Senior Congress leaders including Sonia Gandhi,Rahul Gandhi expressed grief over her death. Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav went to SGPGI,where she was SGPGIMS.

Alka Tiwari’s body has been taken to their native place at Sangramgarh in Pratapgarh district. Her last rights will be performed in Allahabad on April 28.
