A TIMER DEVICE kept in a bag, along with a threat letter addressed to Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu, was recovered from the toilet of Mumbai-bound Mahanagri Express train on Thursday night.
A team of Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) later defused and exploded the device at Manikpur railway station in Chitrakoot. The letter, written in English, also demanded Rs 10 crore. The train was coming from Varanasi.

Meanwhile, DGP headquarters said that the BDS report has stated that it was an improvised explosive device (IED) weighing 600 gm including 250 gm explosives.
The letter written on a piece of paper found with the device read: “To The Rail MINISTER 10 cr required in instalment… Reason—After Rail Accident no one can get any accommodation… 10 cr—1000 family, it’s revolution… Say yes hang a PIC of Modi in S 5, S 4 sleeper class of the train no—12397, 13201… And get remaining plan in Mumbai Police Station in Valvet”.
