Eyeing to win a party ticket to contest the Lok Sabha elections for second consecutive time,BJP leader in UP Legislative Council Hukum Singh is organising a rally in Nakur Assembly constituency on April 12 in which party national president Rajnath Singh will be the chief guest.
Sources said by addressing party workers and farmers in Nakur,in west UP,Hukum Singh is preparing the ground to get ticket from any of three adjoining Lok Sabha constituencies Kairana,Saharanpur and Muzaffarnagar.
Nakur Assembly constituency is part of Saharanpur district whereas it falls in Kairana Lok Sabha constituency. The eight-time MLA from Kairana Assembly seat that falls in Kairana LS constituency,Hukum had contested his first Lok Sabha elections from Kairana in 2009 but lost to the BSP candidate. Kairana Assembly constituency, which now falls in Shamli district, was part of Muzaffarnagar district as well as the Lok Sabha seat earlier.
At Kairana, the gurjar leader is all set to face a strong challenge from Kartar Singh Bhadana, another gurjar leader, who in all likelihood will be fielded by the RLD.
As Bhadana is a strong candidate,Hukum has kept his options of Saharanpur and Muzaffarnagar open, said a party leader.
By holding the rally in Nakur,Hukum Singh wants to show his influence in all these three Lok Sabha seats, the leader added.
Hukum claimed that party workers and people from entire west UP will attend the Nakur rally. But sources said that arrangements were being made to ferry party workers from only three Lok Sabha constituencies of Kairana,Saharanpur and Muzaffarnagar.
Asked if he was holding rally for seeking party ticket,Hukum said,I cannot comment on candidature at this moment. In BJP,the party organisation decides the candidate in every election.
Asked about Hukums attempt to get party ticket from any one of the three Lok Sabha seats, state president of the BJP Laxmikant Bajpai said: No person can claim ticket for himself, and only party will decide the candidates for the next Lok Sabha elections.
