BJP will invite Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and MPs and MLAs of other political parties of Kanpur region to Narendra Modis rally in district on October 19 to hear the partys prime ministerial candidates vision for the development of the country.
The party wants that MPs and MLAs of other political parties too should hear Modis vision for the development of the country. Invitations will be sent to all MPs and MLAs of Kanpur region, said Kanpur district BJP president Surendra Maithani.
The BJP has got nearly one lakh invitation cards printed, some of which will be sent to the faculty members of IIT-Kanpur,renowned medical practitioners and office-bearers of bar associations and other intellectuals.
Sources said extending invitation to MPs and MLAs of other parties is a tactical move by the BJP,which does not have much representation in the region.
There are six Lok Sabha and 33 Assembly constituencies in Kanpur region. BJP currently has no Lok Sabha member from there while the ruling Samajwadi Party and the Congress both have three MPs each. BJP has only four MLAs in the region and all from Kanpur city.
Maithani will be sending the invitations to MPs and MLAs of other parties while partys state president,Laxmikant Bajpai, will send it to the Chief Minister.
Bajpai will be in Kanpur on Wednesday to perform Bhoomi Pujan with 11 priests at Indira Nagar ground, which has been booked for the rally.
The party booked the ground, spread over 1.80 lakh square metre, expecting a crowd of around five lakh people. The district administration has directed the party to make arrangements to prevent any accidents as a high tension wire passes over the ground.
The area under the high tension line will be a no-man zone, Maithani said.
Party state general secretary Swatantra Dev Singh is camping in Kanpur to supervise the preparations while Amit Shah, general secretary in charge of UP,will visit the district Thursday to review the progress.
The party has already written to the Kanpur divisional commissioner, asking to repair the roads approaching the rally ground and make arrangements of street light and sanitation there.
