In a statement, Mayawati said there is nothing new about casteist and communal incidents against Dalits, OBCs, tribals, Muslims and Christians in the BJP-ruled states as this was the party’s real face and character, but the constant unveiling of corruption scandals like the previous Congress-led government shows its new nature.
“This proves that as far as the governments and scams are concerned, BJP and Congress are not only similar but are of the same kind,” Mayawati was quoted by a spokesperson while addressing BSP leaders from Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Haryana.
The BSP supremo said while other parties take resignations from their ministers under public pressure, BJP leadership is so “arrogant” and “autocratic” that it does not seem ready to demand resignation of those ministers and chief ministers who indulge in “corrupt” practices and thus, worked against the national interest.
“This is an unprecedented situation before the country which has baffled the people,” she added.
Regarding the controversy surrounding Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, Mayawati said Raje went against the nation’s interests in helping the “fugitive” former IPL chief Lalit Modi. But with BJP taking no legal action against her or against Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for involvement in the Vyapam scam has surprised the people, the spokesperson quoted Mayawati.
She said the life of common people in MP, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Haryana is “sad” and filled with “injustice” because of a weak Opposition in these states.
Mayawati appealed to BSP MLAs and MPs to firm electoral grips on these states by putting in extra hard work and dedication at ground level.
