The anti-Congress campaign of the BJP,which was launched on the issues of corruption and price rise, has failed to make any impact in UP where the party is currently focusing more on its organisation elections.

The BJP had decided to start Bhrastachar,Mahengai Mitao,Congress Hatao,Desh Bachao campaign across the country on October 12. During the 40-day campaign,BJP had to take out processions and create awareness against price rise and alleged corruption. The aim of the campaign was to build a tempo for BJP parliamentarians to take up the issues vociferously in the Winter Session of Parliament.

To ensure participation of partymen, the BJP had sent its national leaders across the country to administer an oath to other state leaders and workers to make the campaign a success. Veteran party leader and PAC chairman Murli Manohar Joshi had administered the oath in Lucknow on October 11,asking the leaders to ensure the reach of the campaign to village level in every district.

However, the campaign is yet to take off in UP even after 12 days because the state unit has directed the workers to focus on the ongoing organisational elections.

The process of organisational polls started in September with the completion of the membership drive. Election of office bearers at mandal level are being held at present, whereas the election of district presidents has to be held by October 31. The party has to conduct the election of state presidents as well as the national president before November 10.

BJP state president Laxmikant Bajpai said,“The awareness campaign is being run on a small scale. But workers are not so aggressive to come on streets because they are busy in organisational elections, which is the priority.”

He said that uninterrupted membership drive had shown overwhelming results. After the organisational elections are completed on November 10,the campaign will be made aggressive,Bajpai added.
